As a chef and an industry veteran we often think of a restaurant as a food and beverage business and often ask “is a restaurant a service business?” why yes in fact it is, in fact far more a service business than it is a food vending business. Yes indeed we do sell food and beverage but more importantly we are in the service business. It’s how we sell that food and beverage through service and a good time. We sell a good time, we sell the comfort of spending money, we sell the indulgence of good food and drink and all of this is accomplished through service.
